JL WATKINS - "TWILIGHT"

------------- start -------------------

PAGE 1, panel 1

An eerie stillness settles over the dusty red hills and lush green surface of a Mars-like planet. A ROCKET launches into space from sprawling metropolis made of crystal and glass.

CAPTION:

WE KNEW THIS DAY WOULD COME.

CAPTION:

YET, IN OUR DARKEST HOUR I STILL FIND COMFORT BENEATH THE STARS THAT CREATED US.

PAGE 1, panel 2

From space, hundreds of meteors head towards the semi-red planet. In the distance, a rocket trails away from the doomed planet.

CAPTION:

NO ONE CAN ESCAPE FATE’S TIGHTENING GRASP.

PAGE 1, panel 3

We focus on the rocket as it cruises onward amongst the stars, and the planet gets further away in the distance.

CAPTION:

I DREAM OF WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR OUR SEEDLINGS.

CAPTION:

COULD THEIR PATH BE SO DIFFERENT FROM OUR OWN?

PAGE 1, panel 4

An alien hand rests amongst a series of computer panels showing the following things: rocket schematics, DNA sequences, and then some random alien symbols.

CAPTION:

FEARING GODS AND MONSTERS.

CAPTION:

CLIMBING OUT FROM BENEATH THE ROCKS TO HUDDLE AROUND THE FIRE.

PAGE 1, panel 5

A vaguely human-like alien (think 90% of all Star Trek aliens) stands at his empty rocket platform (hand on the computer panel), as he watches hundreds meteors showering down from every direction on his once magnificent city.

CAPTION:

FORGING THEIR WORLD OUT OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY.

CAPTION:

WAGING THEIR WARS.

CAPTION:

DESTROYING THEIR MACHINES AND GODS. FINDING ENLIGHTENMENT IN THEMSELVES.

PAGE 1, panels 6 & 7

These two panels mirror each other, but are divided as panels. Each of them is a separate half of a planet.

Left panel: The reddish mars-like planet shows a series of violent explosions from the surface at the meteor shower bombards the planet.

CAPTION:

AND IN MY FINAL MOMENT

Right panel: The dull, blue-green planet has a warm yellow glow that is slowly spreading from the rocket’s point of impact as it creates life. There should be a very faint emission trail from the rocket, so that it’s fairly obvious that it landed here.

CAPTION:

I SHED A TEAR FOR OUR HUMANITY.

PAGE 1, panel 8

This is a thin strip across the bottom that is washed out shapes and images of the alien and his surroundings, with the caption across the center.

CAPTION:

AND PRAY THEY HAVE MORE TIME THAN WE DID.
